Counselling is a therapeutic service which offers individual’s the time and space in a safe, non-judgemental, confidential setting, with an appropriately qualified person, to explore what is going on for them. It is not about giving advice, but instead is listening service designed to help you work through your problems and increase your emotional and psychological well-being.
People come for counselling for many different reasons and require a bespoke service to provide them with the service which will meet their needs. There is no right or wrong reasons to have counselling, it is entirely accessed on a voluntary basis. However, the more you engage the more you will get from counselling.
There are various ways of working with clients and our counsellors come from a range of modalities and training backgrounds. Whilst our counsellors work in an interactive manner to fulfil the needs of the individual client, we also offer a service which provides specific counselling on request. However, as each individual has their own reasons for accessing counselling or therapeutic services the list is not exhaustive.
Changing appointments: We understand that in life things happen and things can change where you may need to change your session, just check with your counsellor and they will be more than happy to move your appointment within the agreed time scale
Cancellation: As our appointments are in high demand, we require at least 24 hours notice to cancel your appointment, this also give these opportunity for someone else to take this time slot.
Unfortunately where less than 24 hours notice is given, the session will be charged in full.
We have two services options running at the moment for counselling, clients have the option of accessing private and community sessions. All consultations are free, and then the counselling manager will decided if you are eligible for free community counselling.
1. Our community service is whereby sessions are provided by our volunteers and trainee counsellors. However, this is available dependant on funding and availability of staff.

This much used form of counselling provision is offered by volunteers and trainee counsellors who are appropriately qualified and skilled, who understand how difficult it can be to access services when individuals do not have the financial ability to do so. This service is dependant on volunteers and staff availability.

2. If you want to access private counselling which is a faster route with qualified and experienced staff member, this option is avialible and prices range from £30-£60.
Private services can also be accessed via referrals from organisations, social workers doctors, or other health care professionals. Clients are also welcome to refer themselves for private counselling. It may be that you have been recommended to seek counselling but you feel the waiting list is too long.
